Welcome to…Adlerville?

adlerville is right next to can't-come-up-with-a-title-town

It seems that due to popular demand and the efforts of a new friend, the Underwood has a reprieve granted it, and the fresh sacrifice of the Adler is now upon the alter of my ideas, to be smote into parts to do my bidding. I’m glad that not only is the Adler just a lot less attractive, it is already non-functional. Unfortunately, it seems that the spare bits I do not need are less likely to be used for some other project due to that unattractive-ness. Ah, well.

The exact means of smote-ing this beast are up for grabs. Anyone have a particularly spectacular idea?

New Squid for New Times

love them squidies

Would you like your shoulders flanked by a phalanx of squids over a bit of your exposed chest?

I’m trying a bit of a new dye technique with a squid design for this v-neck shirt. A little more dramatic use of color. Then I’m going to try a new waxing technique…New new new.

Clay? Clay! Of Justice!

the clay of justice, for all your justice needs

I bought some clay to make…something…and then I intend to make a mold of this…thing…and then I will make an army of them…to do my evil bidding!

Can’t wait.

Welcome to Underwood…

what the hell all these switches and knobs...
I snagged, in the heat of an idea, an Underwood typewriter from craigslist. The old gent who answered the door offered to get me a piece of paper to try it out and make sure it works. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that I intended to scrap it and use only the hammers for a particular project.

Now that the archaic thing is sitting in my home, I’ve come to appreciate, if not wholly understand, all its levers and knobs, little bits, and general solidness. I’m wavering…

Another broken electric typewriter is set to arrive at my door soon, via a friend’s freecycle efforts, and I’m thinking that I’m going to wait and scrap that one first. This would leave me with the Underwood intact: a very old, pretty, and heavy, paperweight.

Rip your face

I’ve loved Hugh for a while now. Since I read his ‘how to be creative‘ years ago I’ve gone back to it, and been refueled to the same level every time. My own personal grail giving me eternal motivation with every sip.

Now he posts a great list of thoughts about cartooning, or drawing cartoons on business cards.

Number 23 got me good.

23. I want to draw cartoons that rip the face off the reader. But in a good way.

I can just so easily replace ‘cartoons’ with ’shirts’…
